LMT Shared Services – corporate service provider
LMT Shared Services is the central service provider for the entire LMT Group. It is responsible for the control and continuous improvement of strategic procurement, IT, logistics and materials management, human resources, accounting and quality management. These activities benefit all areas of the Group.
The Oberkochen-based LMT Group includes LMT – Leading Metalworking Technologies and the Fette Compacting engineering firm. Both these businesses are represented by production plants, sales offices and service centres all over the world.
Comparable internal standards, processes and solutions are important if you wish to be able to act swiftly and effectively in many different markets and industries. That is why the LMT Group has consolidated central corporate functions in Shared Services. Standardized IT solutions, centrally controlled logistics and internal quality management also benefit LMT sales units, for example, because closer networking means they can together guarantee swift and effective solutions for the customers of the LMT Technology Group and Fette Compacting.
Working closely with Group management
LMT Shared Services sees itself as a modern service provider that works closely with the Group management in Oberkochen. Its “customers” are the companies of the Group. The duties of LMT Shared Services also include the constant scrutiny, improvement and standardization of all internal processes and structures within the LMT network. That will lead to improvements – for example, in logistics processes or procurement terms – that will have an impact throughout the entire Group. A unified stock-keeping system is also being set up to ensure the speedy dispatch of ordered tools and products.
Additionally, strategic procurement within LMT Shared Services is making a significant contribution to managing and minimizing costs within the Group. It is the coordinator and first contact for many projects associated with procurement – from procurement controlling and decisions on ordering machinery to the development of framework agreements. Shared Services is also responsible for central quality and human resources management within the LMT Group. Additionally, regular audits of vocational and further training are conducted on the basis of clearly defined standards in order to maintain and improve quality.
